The Government have recently announced further delays to Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax Self Assessment (ITSA). This has now been delayed until April 2026 (was April 2024).
The delays are expected to give self employed individuals and landlords more time to prepare for MTD.
From April 2026, those with income of £50,000+ will be required to keep digital records and provide quarterly updates on their income and expenditure to HMRC through MTD-compatible software. Clients at TLC will be covered by our in house software.
From April 2027, individuals and landlords with income of between £30,000 and £50,000 will ne required to sign up for MTD for ITSA.
Those with an income below £30,000 is currently being reviewed whether or not it will be mandatory for them to join the scheme.
